Access to Information

Understanding your rights is the first step to enforcing them. Many asylum seekers struggle with complex procedures, language barriers, or missing guidance. AsyLex provides accessible, multilingual information so people know what to expect and how to act.

Why Access to Information matters

The asylum process is complex and overwhelming. For those seeking protection, the first and most significant barrier is often a lack of clear, reliable, and understandable information. Without knowing their rights or the procedures they face, individuals cannot effectively advocate for themselves, leaving them vulnerable in a system that is difficult to navigate alone. This is why access to reliable, understandable, and up-to-date legal information is one of AsyLex’s core pillars.

Clear Answers for a Complex Process

We have built an extensive and constantly updated database of Frequently Asked Questions, available in multiple languages. This resource provides direct, practical answers to the most common and critical questions asylum seekers have about procedures in Switzerland. Our goal is to provide clarity at every step.

Our FAQ section covers several topics, including:

  • The Asylum Procedure: Step-by-step explanations of the process.
  • The Dublin Regulation: Understanding how and why transfers to other European countries happen.
  • Family Reunification: Information on the requirements and procedures for bringing family members to Switzerland.
  • Permits & Status: Explanations of different residence permits (N, F, B) and what they mean

Our Vision for Global Access

Our commitment to accessible information doesn’t stop at the Swiss border. The digital-first model we’ve built here is the foundation for our ambitious goal to bring legal knowledge to displaced people worldwide through our global «Rights in Exile» platform, the world’s leading online hub of refugee law resources. Originally built by AMERA International and taken over by AsyLex in July 2024, RiE has become an essential tool for both refugees and the legal community. It offers:

  • A global database of more than 1,000 legal aid organizations in 150+ countries
  • Country-specific resources on issues such as gender-based persecution and LGBTQI+ rights
  • A network of 800+ experts on country-of-origin information
  • Practical self-help tools and guides for displaced individuals
  • New resources on safe pathways to protection, researched and maintained by AsyLex

With nearly 90,000 users in 2025 alone, RiE lowers barriers worldwide by connecting people with trusted advice, local contacts, and specialized expertise.

Illuminate the World with Human Rights: Revealing the Interactive Country Map

In 2023, AsyLex Global launched an interactive map of international human rights mechanisms. This tool allows refugees, lawyers, and NGOs to see at a glance which UN treaty bodies and procedures are available in each country. By turning complex legal frameworks into a clear, accessible resource, the map empowers people to challenge violations when national systems fail.

Navigate the intricate web of human rights protection with our comprehensive map. Discover the array of international human rights mechanisms available to individuals worldwide, empowering them to challenge any State’s failure in upholding and safeguarding their fundamental rights.
