OUR VOLUNTEER TEAMS

Find your team

We are organised into specialist teams, each playing a distinct role. Find the one that fits your background. If you are unsure, apply and we will help you find the right fit.
CORE TEAM

Legal Teams

Our legal teams are the heart of AsyLex. Volunteer lawyers and jurists review cases, draft legal guidance, support clients through appeals, and provide representation at critical stages of the Swiss asylum procedure. Cases are assigned based on your availability.

We have dedicated teams covering different areas: Dublin procedures, family reunification, detention cases, and more. You will be placed in the team that best matches your expertise.

Who we look for

Law students, jurists, and qualified lawyers. Swiss law background preferred but not required. Full training provided.

Time commitment
Flexible. You choose how many cases you take on and when. Fully remote.
What we provide

Introduction to Swiss asylum procedure, ongoing mentoring, and full team support throughout every case.

TECHNOLOGY

Legal Tech & IT Team

Technology is what makes AsyLex’s model work at scale. This team builds and maintains the digital infrastructure that connects clients with lawyers, powers our case management system, and supports our global platforms including Rights in Exile.

LANGUAGE

Translation Team

Language barriers are among the biggest obstacles our clients face. The translation team ensures people can fully understand their legal situation, their rights, and the options available to them, in their own language.

COMMUNICATIONS

Fundraising & Communications Team

AsyLex’s work depends on public support and awareness. This team tells our story, manages our social media, supports donor relations, and develops campaigns that help us grow our impact and sustain our operations.

ADVOCACY

Legal Information and Advocacy Team

Access to justice starts with access to information. This team creates legal guides and educational resources in plain language, and advocates for systemic change in Swiss asylum policy.

LIVED EXPERIENCE

People with a Refugee Background

We strongly believe that people with lived experience of the asylum system bring irreplaceable knowledge and perspective to our work. If you have been through the asylum process yourself, your insight is genuinely valuable — not just welcome, but actively sought.

You can contribute across many areas of AsyLex — from improving our legal information resources and communication, to translation, to sharing feedback that makes our services more effective for the people we serve. We adapt to your skills and situation.

No formal qualifications required

Your lived experience is your qualification. We match you to a role that fits your skills and situation.

Fully remote and flexible

We understand that life circumstances vary. We work with you to find a contribution that is realistic and sustainable.
